I get so many questions about my teeth, so decided to bring it all on the table in this BLOG...
Well, i have porcelain veneers, not gonna lie!
those are not my natural teeth-lets get real!
for those who don't really know about veneers ( i had no idea about them when i first started researching...i was like- how come everybody's teeth look so perfect-what is that??? and found the answer)
heres a little info:
In dentistry, a veneer is a thin layer of material placed over a tooth, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth or to protect a damage to a tooths surface. There are two main types of material used to fabricate a veneer, composite and dental porcelain. A composite veneer may be directly placed (built-up in the mouth), or indirectly fabricated by a dental technician in a dental laboratory, and later bonded to the tooth, typically using a resin cement such as Panavia. In contrast, a porcelain veneer may only be indirectly fabricated.
Why did i get Veneers???
very imp. question!
(because its pricy and time consuming right...)
the reason why is; because I host TV shows and you HAVE TO HAVE perfect teeth otherwise it gets really annoying...it annoys you before anybody else- watching yourself...so thats why i was very motivated to do it...
Getting veneers is not an easy procedure, i would say you need one month for the entire process
I will go over it very quickly for those who might be interested...
first, you have to find THE right doctor. do your research. My doc. is Dr. Leon Ren( Newport Beach) Newport Beach is known for perfect teeth people:)
Thats why i picked it there...
once you have a doc- you have to determine how many teeth you will get done. I did my whole front and sides-up and bottom. big procedure!!!
and the next step is the price...
see, prices vary so much-thats why i don't want to be confusing- but just do your research and don't feel embarrassed to ask for a good deal! feel free to bargain a little bit- they might be able to give you a discount...
and than you have to determine the color-whiteness that you want- i wanted the whitest possible on the face of earth and got exactly that:) some people prefer a more natural look, i don't...
once all of those are set
its the actual doing
well it is considered a 2 step dental work
first time you go in- doc shaves...cuts...whatever you call it- your real teeth and puts in the temporary teeth- for you to see exactly how the finished look will be. ( took about 3 hrs- I went under so i was sleeping the whole time)
the reason they do that is so you can make changes to sizes and shapes looking at those temporary ones.
which sounds good right?
except for one thing- those temporary ones are all in one piece- they drove me crazy. it was like i had a mouth piece24/7...could't eat...couldn't speak...OMG! hated that.
and they stayed for 2 WEEKS. because doc will be designing the actual ones in the meantime...
that was the worst part for me...
the only things i could was risotto and mashed potatoes...
so anyways
than when the design process in done- you go in for the real ones. once you get the real ones, they feel so good! ( took about 4 hrs- i went under this time as well, so didn't feel anything)
VOLIA!
you feel so new and fresh...you can make some changes on the real ones too- not drastic but length or thickness...but minor changes!
i was done in about a month-
so this is the recap of my veneers
but it does not end there because you really have to take great care of them.
well even if i didn't have veneers i would still do the these exact same things because teeth affects everything from appearance to self esteem to health
so heres what i do every single night step by step
( i only do a quick brush in the morning bec i am always in a hurry LOL )
First I Spray my whole face with Avene Thermal Water, instead of washing it. I love Avene products-
this thermal water one is extremely good...
without driying my face ( no need) start brushing my teeth with my sonic brush for 2 minutes.
my sonic brush
i use Rembrandt tooth paste- its really good!
and than the next step is the floss- ORAL B GLIDE floss is so soft almost like silk thats why i prefer this one. Flossing is as important as brushing- if not more... this is the most crucial step!!!
and than i use this GUM picks, to go over the flossed areas and clean the gums- once more...can't remember the brand for this...i will post it later...
and finally- i make sure to put some lip moisture on, before going to sleep- it makes all the difference. i like to use different ones each night. so far the NIVEA mint&minerals one is my fav.
this is another thing i don't really enjoy but it's a must: when you have veeners- you need to wear a
Night Guard ( thats what they call it) to protect your veneers from grinding and all... during sleep.
I try to do it 3-4 times a week. a little uncompfy:)))
some pharmacy stores might sell these but its good to have them custom made-you need one in the exact size and shape of your teeth...
(ask your doc)
